We only use pure, organic Beeswax rather than Soywax or Paraffin in our candles. While soy wax is a renewable resource and soy candles are biodegradable, the soy industry is closely linked to deforestation as soybean production has caused forests to be cleared and tilled, leading to destroyed habitats and soil erosion. It’s also important to us that Beeswax candles are completely free of paraffin while soy wax candles contain some amount of paraffin. When paraffin candles burn, they emit black soot and toxic fumes—similar in chemistry to diesel exhaust—containing poisonous chemicals such as benzene, toluene, naphthalene, tri-decane, tetra-decane, penta-decane, and hexadecane.
